First, the symptoms of depression are similar to the symptoms of other forms of emotional distress, but other emotional problems may be traced back to one particular problem. For example, someone grieving over someone else’s death may feel sad, upset, angry, and just plain depressed for a long time.
 
It is not always depression unless the symptoms really cause problems in your daily routine for along period of time or days. Sadness can be felt most of the times but you need to take treatment when you think it serious and is majorly interfering in your life.

People do end up feeling sad and blue for bad things happening in their surroundings, but this isn’t permanent. You can get relieved after a good night’s sleep or spending some time with family or friends.

Some people are even affected by the weather climates, like during the rainy or snowy season. But they do get over it soon. Actual depression stays even longer than two to three days and it’s not just feeling sad or blues its even worse.

Patients of clinical depression often see no point in anything. They don’t spend time with family and friends. They even stop doing activities or carrying on with their hobbies. They lack the self-esteem in them.
